… making the most of your team...
Team Building With Sails
„The whole is more than the sum of its parts” (Aristotle)
When
starting
new
team
projects
all
team
members
face
new
challenges.
What
will
the
new
work
relations
look
like?
In
which
direction
will
group
dynamics
develop?
Will
I
be
able
to
use
the
best
of
my
skills
for
the
benefit
of
the
team?
When
right
away
at
the
start
of
a
new
project
the
strengths
of
each
team
member
are
recognised
and
incorporated,
team
spirit,
motivation
and
self-esteem
are
improved.
This
will
increase
productivity
and
allows
the
team
to
climb
to
great heights.
In
order
to
accomplish
this,
there
is
hardly
a
better
setting
than
to
sail
a
ship
as
a
team.
Communication
structures
as
well
as
team
interaction
are
readily
identified
and
can
be
supported
by
interventions
and
targeted
feedback.
All
of
the
processes
are
supervised
by
a
professional
psychologist
and
will
be
projected
onto
the
everyday
work
situation.
A
motivated,
well
functioning
team
is
able
to
sail
a
ship
to
any
destination
and
the
joint
experience
and
adventure
weld
a
team
together
for
years to come.
Teamcoaching
„Not the wind, but the sail determines the course“ (china)
Existing
patterns
may
have
stagnated
a
team
causing
individuality,
momentum
and
new
ideas
to
suffer.
While
sailing,
old
patterns
and
hierarchies
are
broken
down
into
parts,
creating
the
opportunity
to
reinvent
and
discover
new
skills
in
yourself
and
your
team
partners.
This
reinforces
team
spirit,
motivation,
communication
and
self-esteem
which
in
turn
increases
productivity.
It
is
no
longer
the
wind
which
blows
you
into
a
direction,
instead
it
is
the
team
that sets the sails to determine the heading.
While
sailing
a
ship
as
a
team,
communication
structures
and
interpersonal
interactions
become
obvious
and
transparent.
By
targeted,
joint
reflection
and
structured
feedback
conflicts
can
be
lifted
even
before
they
come
into
existence.
All
team
processes
take
place
under psychological supervision and will be translated into the everyday work situation.
A
motivated
and
well
functioning
team
will
not
allow
adverse
winds
to
prevent
reaching
harbour.
Instead,
they
will
be
regarded
as
a
challenge
to
be
defeated
in
a
joint
effort
that
will
stengthen a team for future challenges.
„We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust the sails.“ (Aristoteles)
Executives
are
people
with
strong
personalities.
They
have
a
high
sense
of
responsibility.
They
need
stamina
and
lots
of
charisma.
In
tough
situations
they
need
to
be
able
to
make
just
the
right
decisions
and
they
have
to
do
so
swiftly.
Their
team
needs
to
be
able
to
trust
them
blindly.
These
high
expectations
put
executives
under
pressure
to
perform,
which
does
not
always
make
it
easy
to
stay
motivated
and
to
maintain
the
larger
perspective
in
the
everyday
work
situation.
With
Team
Building
With
Sails
executives’
skills
and
strenghts
are
placed back into focus.
Communication
training
and
changing
perspective
will
help
to
reinforce
and
stabilise
the
motivation
to
lead
for
the
future.
Quick
decision
making,
self-management,
time
management,
goal
definition,
goal
structuring
and
team
leadership
are
improved
and
are
supported by targeted self-reflection.
The
setting
of
a
sailing
vessel
allows
the
analysis
and
training
of
all
the
important
traits
of
a
leadership
personality.
The
processes
are
psychologically
supervised
and
will
be
reflected
upon
together.
For
a
great
captain the horizon knows no borders.
„Only those who know where they are headed, will be able to set the sails right.“ (Jürg Meier)
Workshops
are
a
team
effort
with
a
set
time
limit
that
allow
one
topic
to
receive
due
attention
in
a
creative
and
intensive
manner.
On
a
sailing
barge
you
will
find
a
seminar
room
suitable
for
a
variety
of
workshoptools.
As
to
the
contents
of
the
workshops,
these
can
be
about
any
desired
topic.
Moreover,
you
will
enjoy
an
inspiring
environment
in
which
you
are
able
to
unwind
after
a
stressful
day
in
order
to
go
back
to
the
job
with
renewed
energy
and
new
ideas.
All
workshops
can
be
structured
and
planned
in
advance
by
professionals,
and
all
proceedings
can
be
professionally
supervised.Workshops
on
ships
can
lead
to
the
discovery
of new horizons in an innovative way.
Historical Barges
Yachts
Active on the beach and on the water
The traditional Dutch sailing barges offer the
possibility of experiencing a joint sailing adventure as
a team. You can sail to several harbour towns giving
you a complete sailing experience.
On the historical barges you will find room for 22
participants to sleep in the cabins on board. The
historical barges also have a large
community/seminar room, as well as the option of on
board catering.
Yachts allow for a sportive sailing experience.
They can compete against each other in a
regatta, or they can be used for intense sailing in
small groups.
•
Overnight stay in hotel, including a seminar
room
The Netherlands offer many possibilities for beach and water sports. For each need there is a fitting event, whether
catamaran sailing, SUP, kitesurfing, land sailing, beach kiting and many more. Through a shared experience your
team welds together and you will learn more about your team’s strengths and skills.
•
Overnight stay in hotel, including a seminar room
Following your application we will tailor a coaching event
that fits your needs.
Assignment
The first step is to examine your needs by answering the
following the questions:
•
What prompts the occasion?
•
Who orders the event?
•
Who are the participants?
•
How many participants are there?
•
What characterises the present situation?
•
Which are the goals?
•
Which are the core themes?
•
Which preparations are necessary?
•
What needs to be done afterwards?
•
Which conditions need to be met?
After all the important questions have been answered,
we can develop a fitting design together that can take
many forms, whichever will be the most suitable.
Preliminary conditions
In the preliminary conditions we will clear which setting is
the most suitable for the goals of the coaching event and
for your organisation. We aim to include all participants
and bring out their strenghts where they can be found, in
order to achieve the best possible results.
Evaluation
In the evaluation stage the coaching event will be
analysed and reflected upon in order to learn how to
make the best use of the new wind in the everyday work
situation and it will become clear if there are any ensuing
needs.
Prices
Prices can be mentioned only after it has been cleared
what the assignment is, because prices vary according to
the choice of ship, number of participants, and the
duration of coaching. The offers also vary with the
seasons of the year.
